Traditional Chinese Medicine / Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine views a person’s health as a dynamic balance of the flow of energy or “Qi” and its effects on various organ systems. Its abstract view of health determines patterns of imbalance within various organ systems and substances which make up a person. The flow of Qi throughout the body can be regulated through acupuncture, where very thin needles are inserted into skin and muscle at specific points along the meridian. A Naturopathic Doctor will use Chinese patent herbs and acupuncture to assist the body in regulating the Qi and achieving balance.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Requires an Initial Naturopathic Consultation.

Cosmetic acupuncture (also known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture) is a safe, non-surgical treatment designed to reduce the signs of aging. It is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This highly effective treatment involves inserting very thin disposable needles into various points in the face and body for a treatment which addresses the whole person and the underlying issues contributing to skin health.

One cosmetic acupuncture treatment increases circulation to the face thus providing nutrients and stimulating the growth of new collagen. Each treatment has additive effects with the end result being a healthy, younger looking complexion.

Combining cosmetic acupuncture with strategies to look younger from the inside out such as nutritional supplementation, herbal medicine and stress management is a comprehensive approach to optimal skin health.

Homeopathic Medicine

Using Homeopathic Medicine, Naturopathic Doctors prescribe remedies that are made from minute amounts of diluted plant, animal and mineral substances. Homeopathic Medicine views the client’s symptoms as an expression of an imbalance in the body’s energy or “vital force.” A correct prescription stimulates the body’s vital force to heal and rebalance itself with minimal adverse effects.

Bio-Identical Hormone Prescribing

Requires an Initial Naturopathic Consultation.

Naturopathic doctors support the body’s ability to naturally produce hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and thyroid hormones through nutrition, herbs, acupuncture and homeopathy. However, there is a time and place when direct hormone replacement therapy is needed to support fertility, menopause and thyroid function and to prevent future health issues such as osteoporosis and heart disease. Naturopathic doctors provide information and access to bio-identical hormone prescriptions based on your individual needs.

Bowen Therapy

Requires an initial Naturopathic Consultation (initial Bowen session included).

Bowen therapy, also known as Bowenwork®, is a gentle bodywork technique that balances the nervous system, releases muscle tension, and optimizes physiological function. Bowen therapy is best known for its ability to relieve sports injuries and chronic pain, but also treats a wide variety of health concerns including digestive problems and hormonal imbalances. It is a gentle and safe technique for treating infants, young children and people with limited mobility. Bowen sessions are approximately 45 minutes in length and scheduled on a week-to-week basis.

Investigative Testing

Investigative testing is offered by each of our Naturopathic Doctors.  An initial consultation with an ND is required to facilitate testing.

Routine Blood and Urinalysis

Naturopathic doctors are able to order common blood tests and urine samples to screen for nutrient deficiencies, thyroid issues, hormone imbalances, high cholesterol, diabetes, autoimmune conditions, etc.

Food Intolerance Test

Identify how your immune system reacts to over 200 food proteins and the severity of your ‘leaky gut’. This test is offered by the Dynacare lab and often the cost can be covered by your insurance provider.

Hair Element Analysis

Identify your levels of healthy essential minerals and toxic heavy metals through a hair element analysis. This test allows you to be more specific in detoxification strategies to remove and keep your body clear of heavy metals.

Saliva Hormone Panel

Identify how your body tissues are using your hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and DHEA. Also, identify how your body responds to stress throughout the day through a 4 point saliva cortisol (aka adrenaline) panel. These tests are helpful for both men and women in identifying hormone imbalances and adrenal fatigue.

SIBO Breath Test

Identify if you have Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth (SIBO) a common cause of digestive symptoms and irritable bowel syndrome. This simple breath test requires ingestion of a lactulose sugar solution to stimulate bacteria living in the small intestine which feed on and ferment, thus producing high levels of hydrogen and/or methane gas.

Stool Test

Identify what is going on in your gut microbiome. Do you have healthy levels of probiotics (healthy gut bacteria)? Are harmful bacteria, yeast or parasites residing in your digestive tract? This test also grows the pathological organisms found in your stool and tests them against natural and pharmaceutical agents to see what these organisms are susceptible to. This allows you to be more specific in your treatment to eradicate and remove pathological bacteria, yeast and parasites.

Hostlitic Nutrition

Holistic Nutrition

You may be wondering “what is holistic nutrition exactly”? Well, think of what it means to be a “whole” person. Holistic Nutritionists respect and recognize the complex relationship between the physical, chemical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person. Using education as a primary tool, a holistic nutritionist approaches a person as a unique individual and recognizes that there are many aspects of a person’s life, which affect health and eventually lead to symptoms of disease. S holistic nutritionist’s job is to investigate the origin of these so that I can help you bring your body back into balance through natural nutrition, lifestyle, and supplementation recommendations.

This requires your full engagement as we work in a cooperative manner. In the recovery process, you will learn to appreciate the innate wisdom of the body and how it naturally strives to reach balance and optimal health. This is called “homeostasis” and it is a key concept in the practice of holistic healthcare. A holistic nutritionist also recognizes the interconnection between the health of the soil, the environment, and the planet, which have a direct impact on human health.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that supports healing the whole person: body, mind, emotions and spirit. During a Reiki session, the practitioner uses their hands to channel the Universal Life Force Energy or Ki/Qi and guide the energy to where the recipient needs it the most. Reiki means ‘spiritually guided life force energy’ and this energy rebalances the chakra energy centres, clears blockages and promotes a healthy flow of Ki/Qi to support a healthy state of balance. Reiki promotes the relaxation response and it has many beneficial effects including feelings of calmness, peace, security, release and positive well-being.

Shamanic Healing

Shamanic healing is a remarkable body of ancient techniques used to achieve and maintain our health and wellbeing. We work with the energy field that surrounds and informs our physical, emotional and spiritual being. It contains the template of our health, how we live, and how we heal. This work is based on the premise of interconnectedness of all life and of awareness that we are not our stories handed down by genetics and from the family of origin. Our goals are to upgrade your energy field (illumination), clearing toxic, intrusive and dark energies (extraction), healing past traumas (soul retrieval) and helping to transition from this world gracefully (great death rites). Ceremonies, space clearing and blessing practices help the transformation take place.
